A new wedding season means new inspiration. And while we never believe you should plan your wedding simply because something is trending, we do love seeing where the wedding world is heading.

For 2027, something interesting is happening.

The perfect Pinterest wedding is slowly making way for celebrations that feel like a world of their own. Less: which napkin colour is trending right now? More: how do we want our guests to feel when they’re here?

Weddings are becoming more personal, layered and unexpected. Styling is less predictable. Florals are allowed to move. Lighting becomes part of the design. Dinners feel like long evenings in an incredible restaurant, and traditions are only kept when they genuinely mean something.

In short: 2027 is all about weddings with personality.

1. The wedding as an experience

Perhaps the biggest shift of all: a wedding is becoming less about following a programme of ceremony – drinks – dinner – party.

In 2027, we’re designing a complete guest experience.

Something should happen from the moment guests arrive. A beautiful entrance. Music that immediately sets the mood. A signature cocktail they won’t have anywhere else. Then, as the day unfolds, the setting changes and guests discover new spaces and atmospheres.

Think of an intimate garden ceremony, followed by cocktails on a terrace, dinner beneath a fully draped marquee and finally an afterparty that feels like a private club.

Not everything has to be visible at once.

In fact, a little mystery makes it even better.

2. Draping. Draping. And more draping.

If we had to choose one styling element we expect to see everywhere in 2027, it would be fabric.

And we don’t mean a simple piece of cloth behind the ceremony.

We’re talking softly draped ceilings, fabric-covered entrances, theatrical backdrops behind the band, layered textile walls around dinner spaces and complete rooms transformed through draping.

Draping makes large spaces feel warmer and instantly gives minimal venues more intimacy. It softens the light beautifully and can transform even a simple marquee into something elegant and atmospheric.

Especially when paired with flowers and beautiful lighting, it creates that kind of setting where guests can’t quite explain why it feels so special.

They simply feel it.

And that is exactly what good styling should do.

3. Goodbye beige, hello colour

We still love butter yellow, champagne, sand and soft neutrals. But the endless beige era?

It’s slowly making room for colour.

We would much rather invest in a few unforgettable floral moments than twenty identical little vases scattered around the room.

This is one we’re particularly excited about.

Lighting is finally being treated as a proper styling element.

Not just practical spotlights or a few strings of lights above the terrace, but table lamps during dinner, low pendant lights over long tables, sculptural fixtures, candlelight at different heights and warm lighting that highlights the architecture of the venue.

You can have the most beautiful flowers and tablescape in the world, but if the lighting is wrong, the atmosphere disappears.

On the other hand, great lighting can completely transform a relatively simple space.

Especially during dinner and the party, we expect to see much more layering of light in 2027.

More glow, less conference room.

6. Dinner party weddings

A formal three-course dinner where everyone sits in exactly the same place for hours doesn’t have to be the standard anymore.

The atmosphere is moving towards the feeling of a brilliant dinner party.

Long tables. Beautiful serving dishes. Plenty of candles. Good wine. Music in the background. Guests staying at the table just a little longer because nobody wants the evening to end.

The furniture and styling are becoming more hospitality-inspired too.

Banquettes, comfortable chairs, small table lamps, bars you actually want to spend time at and lounge areas that feel like they belong in a boutique hotel.

Dinner is no longer simply the part between the ceremony and the party.

It is one of the highlights of the day.

7. More is more… when it’s done well

Minimalism isn’t disappearing, but maximalism is definitely getting more space.

And we don’t mean simply adding more decoration everywhere.

Good maximalism is about layers.

Beautiful linen. Coloured glassware. A statement menu. Flowers. Candles. A custom bar. A patterned dance floor. Maybe an unexpected print.

When the same colours, shapes or materials subtly return throughout the design, everything feels rich rather than busy.

And that is the difference between a lot of stuff and thoughtful event design.

8. The anti-wedding wedding

More and more couples are letting go of traditions simply because they feel they are expected at a wedding.

No bouquet toss? Fine.

No huge wedding cake? Also fine.

No first dance? Nobody is going to stop you.

Maybe you want cocktails before the ceremony. Maybe the day starts with a long lunch. Maybe you invite 45 guests instead of 145. Maybe you want to move straight from dinner into a DJ, champagne and a packed dance floor.

At the same time, minimalist nineties-inspired bridal fashion remains strong: clean, elegant and effortless.

Accessories are becoming more important too.

Another trend we love: not every wedding venue needs to be hidden beneath layers of decoration.

Quite the opposite.

In 2027, the setting becomes part of the concept.

Planning a Mediterranean destination wedding? Work with local flowers, food and ceramics.

Choosing a modern venue? Lean into sculptural shapes and clean lines.

The most beautiful weddings feel as though they could not have happened anywhere else.

12. Personal details, but make them subtle

Personalisation remains important, but it is becoming more refined.

Your initials don’t need to appear on every surface.

A cocktail inspired by a favourite trip.

An illustration of your dog on the menu.

Table names based on places you have travelled to together.

A saxophonist because the instrument has a special meaning within the family.

Those are the details guests remember.

Personal doesn’t have to be literal.

Sometimes it’s simply a small story woven quietly throughout the day.

And what are we leaving behind in 2027?

We’re happily saying goodbye to styling that only exists because it has to look “wedding”.

Decoration without purpose or story.

Twenty separate trends pushed into one concept.

Flowers arranged exactly the same way on every table.

Cold white lighting during a romantic dinner.

And most of all: the idea that your wedding has to follow a certain checklist.

If we had to bring all these trends back to one idea, it would be this:

a wedding no longer has to look like a traditional wedding.

It can feel like your favourite restaurant, a weekend away with your best friends, a summer garden party, a long Italian dinner or the best nightclub you’ve ever been to.

As long as it feels like you.
